Rampaging Golden State Warriors beat Phoenix Suns to return to winning ways
By being the only team in 26 games to defeat Golden State this season, they have made themselves a target for the league’s defending champions.
The Bucks didn’t fall prey to the Warriors talk, however, and took Golden State to the wire before the Warriors could post their 30th consecutive home-court victory.
Klay Thompson scored 27 of his season-high 43 points in the third quarter and the Golden State Warriors responded after their first loss by beating the Phoenix Suns 128-103 on Wednesday night. In a highly anticipated match up the Warriors battled for revenge and came out on top. Curry made 26 points in the game with 10 rebounds, nine assists, two steals and was 10-11 for field goals. “Winning is great, but there’s a way to win”. Warriors – SF Harrison Barnes (Late December, ankle), SF Kevon Looney (Late January, hip). The Dubs put up 105 points through three quarters against the Suns, including a 46 point third quarter explosion.
The Los Angeles Clippers overcame center DeAndre Jordan’s ejection to down the Milwaukee Bucks 103-90 after Chris Paul had 21 points and eight assists.
Directly after Friday’s game, Golden State forward Draymond Green and Milwaukee guard O.J. Mayo’s postgame exchange got a bit heated, leading team security to come over and break it up.
Green didn’t go into detail about the incident, but said, “No man is going to touch my head”, according to Yahoo! “Point guard Michael Carter-Williams had 24 points for the Bucks, who led by as many as 15 points in the third quarter before suffering the fifth loss in their last six games”.
“I’m not satisfied because I thought we should have been better”, Green said. They are just 1-4 in their last five games, with the one win coming against the Warriors.
The Warriors have been vocal about their displeasure with Milwaukee, not so much because that’s where the streak was vanquished, but because they felt the degree to which the Bucks gloated seemed gratuitous.
With his team trailing by 11 points with under eight minutes left, Green completed a 3-point play and scored on an alley-oop layup before tipping a rebound to a teammate and getting the ball back for a transition 3-pointer. The Milwaukee Bucks are averaging 95.3 points on 44.7 percent shooting and allowing 101.7 points on 45 percent shooting.
“We needed to pick it up on the defensive end”, Green said after Golden State held the Bucks to 19 points in the fourth quarter. “We’ve just got to keep working on it, keep trusting our coaches and keep having faith in each other”.
Mirza Teletovic scored 24 points off the bench to lead the Suns, whose poor showing sent the sellout crowd to the exits midway through the fourth. Seven Bucks scored in double figures, including Monroe, who had a second consecutive double-double against the Warriors with 10 points and 13 rebounds to go with seven assists.NOTES: Former Warriors starter SF Sonny Parker was in attendance to see his son PF Jabari score 14 points for the Bucks. …
