Miss Germany Shades Miss Philippines: “None of Us Voted for Her”
The Miss Universe pageant was marred by a horrendous mix-up which saw host Steve Harvey announce the wrong victor before then handing the prize to Wurtzbach.
Other contestants comfort Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez, top right, after she was incorrectly crowned Miss Universe at the Miss Universe pageant on Sunday in Las Vegas.
Steve Harvey’s wife, Marjorie, is in his corner following the Family Feud host’s embarrassing Miss Universe debacle.
He apologized, said that Gutierrez was in fact the first runner-up and named the victor as Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.
Our source said there is “no way” the mistake was done for publicity, as some news outlets have questioned, but could be chalked up to Harvey simply being under-rehearsed.
A beauty pageant victor has been hit with online abuse, as fans mistake her for Miss Universe ‘s Miss Germany.
“Because none of us voted for Philippines”, she laughs.
The new Miss Universe is just as confused as everyone else.
Harvey was not almost as smooth about the whole ordeal – he wrote a tweet to once again apologize for his mistake, and ended up publishing possibly the most unfortunately misspelled tweet of 2015.
But a Miss Universe insider has claimed that Harvey missed a crucial part of the show’s rehearsal that could explain the blunder. Wurtzbach said that she tried to approach Gutierrez onstage afterwards, but the Colombian was crying and surrounded by a crowd of women.
Meanwhile, 21-year-old Miss Colombia broke her silence and gracefully stated, “Everything happens for a reason”.
In an interview posted to YouTube and the Facebook account of a pageant blog called Missosology, Miss Germany Sarah-Lorraine Riek told an interviewer she was unhappy with the results.
Needless to say, the Internet was flooded with various mixed reactions since yesterday and netizens at large are still reeling with shock and disbelief after the massive gaff.
