Mauricio Pochettino Created “New Spirit” and “Great Atmosphere” at Spurs Says
Dembele has been one of Pochettino’s star performers this season but he hobbled off before half-time during Spurs’ 2-1 win at Watford on Monday.
Spurs have a chance of ending the Year of Our Lord 2015 with nine points out of their last three matches this Sunday when they head to Liverpool to face Everton at Goodison Park. “They were flying a few weeks ago and looked like top four was realistic but they’ve gone off the rails and are in a spin”, Nicholas told Sky Sports.
Dembele’s absence could mean a third Premier League start for Tom Carroll, the club’s latest academy graduate to make his mark in the first team, while Ryan Mason and Nabil Bentaleb are also fit again and could step in. Spurs are four points adrift of the Premier League summit heading into the New Year and the Argentinian boss is keen to build on the recent success.
“We are very ambitious, we always try to work hard to get a positive result”, Pochettino said.
“Teams now are very over-motivated to play against us”.
“I am happy with my performance but I am more happy with the team”.
Meanwhile, Pochettino insists that Tottenham will get it right in the transfer window – whether new players arrive or not. But we need to be confident in our skill, and try to win the game. The reverse fixture this term saw the sides play out a tight 0-0 at White Hart Lane and this one is likely to be another close encounter.
Pochettino said: “Maybe every day me and Daniel have some chat, five or 10 minutes”. “We have a very good relationship with all the departments of the club and we know we are ready to take the better decision for the team and the future of the club but that doesn’t mean we need to bring players in or not”.
“It is a very important thing our supporters believe in the team and that we can achieve good things. The better decision is maybe to bring players in or not to bring players in”.
