Johnny Manziel in concussion program, likely to miss finale

So Manziel is not expected to play when the Browns (3-12) host the Pittsburgh Steelers (9-6) Sunday for the regular-season finale. Every year that I’ve been in the league, there’s drama on every football team.

Pettine isn’t willing to divulge what he’s discussed with Browns owner Jimmy Haslam, but it’s safe to say that if Haslam doesn’t fire Pettine, Pettine will need to fire some of his assistants.

“I’m not going to get into that”, he replied. But when you look at the offense, we’re on the brink of throwing for 4,000 yards and late in the year we’ve kind of found our niche from a run-game standpoint. In his first game back, he played pretty well with 270 yards against the San Francisco 49ers. “I think we have seen the good and sometimes the not so good”.

“If you ask me and my two cents, stability is the answer, ” O’Neil said.

Pettine was brought in by Haslam to change Cleveland’s culture and revitalize a franchise that has been to the playoffs just once since 1999 and endured 13 double-digit loss seasons in 17 years.

The Browns also announced that cornerback Tramon Williams has been placed in concussion protocol.

Pettine and Browns general manager Ray Farmer both head into the game on the hotseat after the Browns have lost 17 of their last 20 on their watch.

“I absolutely want to be able to finish out and then some, but that’s out of my control, ” said Pettine.

The second season of Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel has officially ended, and the coaching staff wants him to spend the offseason addressing his off-field issues. Oh well, those same “fans” will just move on to the next player. You had a little bit of time because he was right in front of us, and I know our guys looked at him and felt that he was OK. After video surfaced of the bye week incident, Manziel reportedly lied about when it was filmed and Pettine said “the repercussions would be harsh” if it happened again. Going back to there, that was more trust and accountability than it was necessarily the act.

The Cleveland Browns have released their Thursday injury report and it shows that six players failed to practice. We want them to be competitive, prideful.

-The Browns are running the football much better than they did when they played the Steelers in Pittsburgh last month. “If he takes the same approach to this offseason as he did this past offseason, and we see the improvements and he takes that next step, I think there is a good chance that that will come to fruition”.
