TCU QB Boykin suspended for bowl after altercation, arrest
TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin holds a jacket over his head as he is escorted from a detention center after he was released on bail, Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015, in San Antonio.
TCU is playing OR on Saturday in the Valero Alamo Bowl in San Antonio.
TCU is 4-0 against Pac-12 teams in coach Gary Patterson’s 15 seasons…. In a very related note, Patterson wouldn’t commit to either senior Bram Kohlhausen or redshirt freshman Foster Sawyer as his starting quarterback for the Alamo Bowl.
Boykin was arrested early Thursday morning in San Antonio. It was not immediately clear what Miller did to get suspended. Boykin became upset, and a scuffle ensued. Instead of hitting the patrons, Boykin allegedly accidentally struck a bar employee.
Boykin was charged with felony assault of a police officer. Several officers then wrestled him to the ground. The report also said Boykin resisted arrest until he was told they would use a stun gun on him.
The cop he allegedly punched had bruises, abrasions and swelling. The crime scene investigative team photographed the officer’s injuries, and he was treated by emergency medical personnel. McManus said Boykin was being heckled about the game against Oregon.
The incident occurred at around 2 a.m. According to ESPN, Boykin had been in his hotel room for a midnight curfew check, but later left.
Ohio State: Coach Urban Meyer said defensive end Joey Bosa and running back Ezekiel Elliott are leaving school early to declare for the National Football League draft. He’s still our brother.
“Well, I think this says a lot about our players and assistant coaches of keeping guys focused”, coach Mark Helfrich said of bouncing back from the 3-3 start. He’s a good person too. Police Chief William McManus said it was not clear whether Boykin was swinging at the officer or someone else.
Adds Patterson: “For me, it doesn’t make any difference which one of them starts. You came here, you got to the end of the year and you want that last ballgame to be everything you want”, Patterson said. “If you miss a tackle, if you miss an assignment, they’ll make you pay for it”.
“It’s all about where you put yourself”, Hartmann said.
He tweeted: “Word can’t describe how sorry I am”.
