Somalia’s al-Shabaab militants use Donald Trump in recruiting film
“We are not responding to Trump but everyone who understands the humiliation this degrading language inflicts on all women should”, Palmieri tweeted on December 22 in response.
A newly released video from Al Shabab-Somalia’s resident Al Qaeda affiliate-uses footage of Trump spouting deeply Islamophobic rhetoric as a direct recruitment tool for its terrorist organization. “They are going to people showing videos of Donald Trump insulting Islam and Muslims in order to recruit more radical jihadists”, Clinton said during the Democratic debate on December 19.
US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has reportedly been featured in a recruitment film for Somalia’s Islamist militant group al Shabaab. ISIS is an acronym often used for the Islamic State group.
Trump lashed out at Clinton on ABC’s “This Week,” insisting that no such video exists and that news reporters have been unable to find one.
The video also cites the fatal shootings of Michael Brown in Missouri and Walter Scott in SC at the hands of police to argue that young black Americans should convert to Islam. Some appeared to be performing Islamic prayers.
“There are ominous clouds gathering in your horizon”, al-Qaeda leader Anwar al-Awlaki says in an archival sound bite used in the video.
The video includes footage of Trump speaking in front of a poster with his campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again”.
The 51-minute video, posted online by al-Shabab on Friday, reportedly shows footage of Trump supporting “a total and complete shutdown” on immigration into the U.S. by Muslims.
Al-Awlaki then reappeared on the video. The video features archival clips of Awlaki castigating the West and predicting that the United States will eventually turn on its Muslim population.
Following Trump’s declaration to ban Muslim immigrants from entering the United States, CNN’s Chris Cuomo got heated during an interview and called the plan “stupid”.
