Jimmy Carter’s grandson dies all of a sudden at age 28
Former President Jimmy Carter revealed Sunday in church that his 28-year-old grandson Jeremy tragically passed away. He told the congregation that Jeremy hadn’t been feeling well Saturday afternoon and had lain down for a nap.
Maranatha Baptist Church Rev. Jeremy Shoulta told the outlet that the family desperately tried to revive Jeremy with CPR before he was rushed to the hospital.
His grandson, Jeremy Carter, who had spent Thanksgiving with him just weeks ago, died suddenly in the night. Mowell said the cause of death is not yet known, and the state medical examiner’s office is assisting in the investigation. His family found him dead soon after.
The 91-year-old former president was diagnosed with a brain tumor in August, but recently announced his treatments had worked and he was cancer free.
During his Sunday school class, Shoulta said Carter completed his lesson, but “it was apparent to everyone there that this was weighing on him very heavily”.
According to churchgoers, Carter continued his class after sharing the heartbreaking news and even took pictures with those in attendance. “So he went to his room to lay on the bed and when they went to see if he was OK and his heart quit beating”, Carter said, reports USA Today.
“I hope that out of this Christmas season we’ll remember what the angels’ song said: Joy to the world, and peace on Earth; goodwill to every person”, he said. He made that announcement at the same Maranatha Baptist Church, also on a Sunday morning.
