Mark Lawrenson predicts what Liverpool will do in the January transfer window
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp feels there is an unhealthy pressure on Premier League managers to spend big money in the January transfer window.
“I’m the first to force the players (to work) or to help them not getting fatigue in the periods between the games because first of all you get exhausted in the mind then the body starts thinking the same”, he told Liverpoolfc.com. We took these very important points in a hard game (against Sunderland).
“But when you get that stroke of luck like they got – Lallana has tried to control it, he miscontrolled it and it’s flicked off his toe and run straight into Benteke’s path, and even he mishit it and it bounces over Vito, so we were very unlucky there”. That’s very important. We defended well, we had our opportunities and Christian was there again.
‘A striker who scores a decisive goal is always a positive thing, but I’m sure Christian knows he can play better, ‘ said the 48-year-old according to Goal.
“You can always make your life easier in games like [Sunderland] when you take one of your first opportunities”. If you don’t do this then you have to work, do all the things for this special moment, and that’s what the team did.
2015 hasn’t been the most successful year for Liverpool football club, and after a rather disappointing 14/15 season, the reds are looking to return to the Champions League by finishing in the top four this campaign.
With his selection options still limited going into Saturday’s Premier League match away to West Ham United, Klopp is putting his faith in Benteke to produce the goods. If he could control this ball it was a big, big chance and you can make an early goal in this game. “But at this moment, we need goals more than anything else and he did it again, so we are really satisfied”.
James Milner and Divock Origi will not be fit and Klopp must wait on midfielders Joe Allen and Jordan Henderson.
