PlayStation 4 Universal Media Remote Will Be Launched in October
The long wait for an official PS3-style dedicated PS4 media remote appears to be nearing an end.
As a universal remote, the unit can control up to four devices: a PS4, television, set-top box and audio receiver.
The PlayStation 4 is leading the current-gen sales charts ahead of the Xbox One from Microsoft.
Before the PlayStation 4 update went live it was rumored that it will add a Calendar App to the console but it looks like Sony is holding off all such features (if any) for a major firmware update.
Japansese conglomerate Sony has stated that a new PS4 update called 2.57 will be released to the public really soon.
The only other alternatives right now for controlling video on the system are to use the DualShock 4 controller, a compatible Harmony hub, or a TV remote that is compatible with HDMI-CEC commands. It will however require two AAA batteries.
PDP hasn’t officially announced when the remote will be available for purchase but it’s already listed on Amazon for $30 with shipments beginning in October this year.
