Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp: Everybody can play better
“I can’t say at this moment I’ve been waiting all my life for Liverpool v Manchester United or Liverpool v Arsenal”.
“The 48-year-old boss clashed with Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce on Wednesday night after venting his fury at Jeremain Lens” late tackle on Mamadou Sakho in the 1-0 victory at the Stadium of Light.
Jurgen Klopp’s side looked defensively suspect throughout the match with West Ham; at times the back four seemed practically dazed in the face of The Hammers’ attack.
Andy Carroll marked his 150th Premier League appearance with a goal against his former club as West Ham United beat Liverpool 2-0 on Saturday.
“So hopefully I can make it nine and if I score and we win the game and get three points then that’s the most important thing, just to get the points”. “But he can play better and that’s [the case] for everybody”.
Winger Michail Antonio scored for the second straight match to put West Ham ahead in the 10th minute at Upton Park, heading in at close range from Enner Valencia’s swooping cross.
“It’s too long to run [at goal] and you think about the last situation, so he tried to do something different”.
“We had the ball and possession and bad luck in a few situations – but that’s not what I want to see, to be honest”.
Jurgen Klopp is confident Christian Benteke will become more efficient in front of goal sooner rather than later.
James Collins, who impressed in central defence for West Ham, said: “We had a couple of dodgy results at home earlier in the season but since then we have been solid and not conceding many goals”.
We have battled hard in these last two games after the emphatic loss at Watford and we’ve won the physical contests, which we said was obviously needed. That stat alone tells you we are not scoring enough goals and that a centre forward like Benteke needs help from other players around him to get in on the act. “That’s very important. We defended well, we had our opportunities and Christian was there again”.
Sturridge started the Capital One Cup win over Southampton and scored twice, but suffered a hamstring injury against Newcastle in his next game which pushed him back onto the periphery. We must wait for the next game.
Slaven Bilic’s side will head into the game full of confidence, although they will not find it easy against a Liverpool side who are picking up results at the moment.
