I will be busy in January -Wenger
Arsenal FC head coach Arsene Wenger is confident his players have the right mentality to win the English Premier League (EPL) title.
Cech is now the goalkeeper with the most clean sheets in Premier League history following the Arsenal’s 2-0 win on Monday night over Bournemout. Even the manager isn’t happy that it’s been more than a decade since the EPL trophy was in Gunners’ hands; more than a decade since the invincible gave us that unforgettable season.
The 27-year-old is enjoying a purple patch and has already provided 16 assists in the Barclays Premier League this campaign, leading teammate Theo Walcott to hail him as the season’s best player so far.
Wenger’s men host third-from-bottom Newcastle United in the league tomorrow.
Wilshere’s comeback was initially pencilled in for the new year although it is now looking like the end of February is the new target. We are fighting hard to stay there.
Getting back to winning ways against Bournemouth, Arsene Wenger was able to rest a couple of players as we barrel through this hectic Christmas period.
“We’re only half-way. Everyone wants to predict who can win it, but it’s only half-way”, the Frenchman told a news conference.
“Overall, when you look at our continuity, 2015 was a positive year because we won the FA Cup, improved our results in the Premier League at the start of the year, continued with that and today we are in a strong position”.
“You question our mentality, I don’t”.
I can’t imagine that Leicester would be willing to sell their star at any price, and to be fair, they’ve said as much.
But Wenger said he was keen to keep a player who came through the club’s youth ranks.
“I play him in training with Koscielny, with Mertesacker, we have three central defenders (and) that will be needed, but how I rotate them I haven’t decided yet”. But I don’t rule England out, but you are not the first favourites. We have chance and we want to fight for it.
Wenger is convinced he has enough quality and desire in his ranks to go on and win one of the most open title races for many a year. But the challenge remains for them to go the distance over the course of a season and deliver the club’s first title in 12 years.
