Many trains are being halted and some are being delayed at New Delhi Railway station on Sunday after the bomb scare on Delhi-Kanpur train.
Later, it was found that the threat was a hoax.
Several Kanpur-bound trains were evacuated and checked at New Delhi and neighbouring stations. Security has been beefed up at New Delhi Railway station, trains are being checked thoroughly and dog squad is at the spot. “After getting the clearance, the train resumed its journey at 7.52 am”, Mr. Sharma said.
A senior official said that the said e-mail was forwarded to the Railway Board which in turn alerted the entire security apparatus.
Coming just a day after the terror attack at an Indian Air Force base at Pathankot, the information received from the Mumbai ATS was taken very seriously, Mr. Sharma said.
