Man bitten by shark off Yeppoon, in Central Queensland
An Australian spearfisherman is reportedly in stable condition following a brutal shark attack that took place off the Queensland coast on Saturday, the first in the area in recent memory.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson said the man had been stabalised, but suffered serious lacerations to his arms and legs.
‘One of our vessels came over and took the injured person on board, we were able to administer first aid immediately, ‘ said Flotilla commander Arthur Hunt.
The 31-year-old was diving near Miall Island, near Great Keppel Island when he was mauled by a three-metre shark in deep water, ABC reports.
After the shark retreated, Countryman swam back to his boat and made it aboard with the assistance of friends.
‘It seems like he has tried to fight the shark off for a considerable amount of time, ‘ said Mr Miers, the species of shark is not known.
The man remains in a serious but stable condition.
“The Coast Guard boat happened to be nearby because it was out doing a training run”, Mr Florian said.
Coast Guard officers took him back to Rosslyn Bay Harbour where they were met by a paramedics.
Mr Miers said shark attacks were not common off Yeppoon.
