City will never give up vows Pellegrini
Manchester City showed they are in no mood to give up on the Premier League title race, scoring twice in the final eight minutes to complete a superb 2-1 comeback victory over Watford on Saturday.
Fresh air was breathed into City’s lungs quite suddenly from a set piece, when Toure wrapped his foot around De Bruyne’s near-post corner and arrowed the ball into the top left corner of the net in the eighty-second minute.
However, Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero rescued City with two late goals to keep third-placed City within three points of Arsenal.
“I think it was a close game and tough for both teams”. The home side were on top for most of the game, were punished for two minor lapses in concentration and the late victor will add salt to the wounds as it’s reminiscent of the last minute goal which meant defeat for them last week against Spurs.
“We believe that and we want to make it happen”, he told Sky Sports.
“We were very unlucky to be losing this game”.
Aguero then came up with the goods in the final moments as his perfectly-timed leap saw him head past Gomes to leave Watford fans stunned. Meanwhile, Manchester City have now gone winless in their last six away games. The concern is that they have scored only two goals in their last six away games in the league during their winless run.
Manchester City starts this match as the favourites, but they will have to be wary of their away form going into this clash.
Sadly, Pellegrini’s squad will be without Captain Vincent Kompany for at least a month after he re-aggravated a calf injury he had problems with earlier in the season.
“We knew we had very some hard games and in my opinion we have been competing at a very high level, but with a little bit more luck next time we will get some extra points”.
Manuel Pellegrini admits Manchester City must improve on the road if they are to be crowned champions.
Watford attempted to respond, with Ighalo again being denied by Hart the best they could muster, but Man City held on to firmly assert their title credentials.
Pellegrini’s side had not won away from home since beating Crystal Palace on 12 September and they came into the game against Watford having scored only one goal in their previous five away matches. I don’t think we didn’t play well.
“These are big teams that have an incredible amount of quality, and when they are in front of the goal they will score. But we took a risk because a draw was not good for the team”. We played really well but it’s football and we will learn the lessons for the future.
