Notre Dame receiver Will Fuller to enter NFL draft
Notre Dame wide receiver Will Fuller will forgo his senior season and declare for the 2016 National Football League draft, he announced on Twitter on Sunday. “Thank you to Notre Dame, the coaches, staff, faculty and fans”. “I couldn’t have asked for a better university to play for, it’s been and honor to have played with team 127 and I’m glad to have had the opportunity. Again, thank you for all the support and I hope you continue on this journey with me”. Prosise had just 10 carries for 126 yards and a touchdown last season.
Prosise’s 2015 season was really his only quality campaign with the Irish.
All season long, Notre Dame linebacker Jaylon Smith was the life of the defense every single week.
The senior took over as the feature back after junior Tarean Folston was hurt early in the season-opening victory over Texas.
The 6-foot, 184-pound junior torched opposing defenses this season to the tune of 62 catches for 1,258 receiving yards (tied for 16th in the nation) and 14 touchdown catches (tied for fifth in the nation).
Over the course of his Irish career, Fuller caught 30 touchdowns, ranking him second all-time in Notre Dame career TD receptions. He hasn’t played since November 21, when he suffered a high ankle sprain against Boston College.
Less than two months ago Fuller said he’d return for his senior year, although he quickly softened that stance – as did head coach Brian Kelly – after making it. Fuller had been consistent during bowl prep that he’d make a final decision after the Fiesta Bowl.
The loss of Prosise leaves Folston and sophomores Josh Adams and Dexter Alexander as the lone Irish running backs with game experience entering 2016.
