For Williams, Redskins, Week 17 is ‘uncharted territory’
What is unknown is who may sit out this game for the Redskins and when their head coach Jay Gruden may decide to pull his starters.
The Dallas Cowboys and the Washington Redskins face off on Sunday in a week 17 NFL NFC East rivalry game.
The Cowboys are allowing 4.9 yards per attempt over their last three games, which is in the bottom ten over that period.
The Eagles jumped ahead to an early 7-0 lead on their first possession, but the Redskins quickly responded with a TD of their own – though a missed extra point kept them from tying it. Cousins connected with Jordan Reed later in the first half, giving the tight end a pair of touchdowns in the first quarter.
Dallas closes out a disappointing 2015 season with a home game versus division rival Washington.
“That’s always been a knock on me as far as being durable and injuries and things, so I just feel like I showed a lot of people that I can go out there and stay healthy and still run the ball at a high pace in this league”, McFadden said. Kirk Cousins is first Redskins QB with at least 300 yards passing and at least four touchdowns with no interceptions in consecutive games.
The Washington Redskins haven’t lost since Dallas beat them for the Cowboys’ only win without Tony Romo this season.
Both teams were able to post field goals in the second quarter, and a confusing kneel down by Cousins to end the first half prevented Washington from extending their 16-10 lead. They’ll trot Colt McCoy out at quarterback, more than likely. To that end, McCloughan and Gruden have prioritized building a physical offensive line (they have first- or second-day draft picks at all five OL positions) and brought in former Cowboys O-line guru Bill Callahan to coach them up. He has thrown for almost 4,000 yards and 26 touchdowns and is only 120 yards from breaking the team record for most yards passing in a season. Kellen Moore will get the start for the Cowboys and look to solidify a roster spot for next season. However, the Redskins are playing the Cowboys and that should be motivation enough. The Redskins must have seven players on the inactive list, and they won’t have the luxury of suiting up more than 46 players like they could in a preseason game. All in all, it was a great regular season performance including 21 touchdowns and 3 interceptions over his last ten games. I think [Ty] Nsekhe has played well in his subs in the time he’s had to play.
Kirk is getting ready to start the football game. The Cowboys signed the 28-year old running back to a two-year deal in the offseason hoping he would keep the Dallas rushing attack rolling.
Callahan, 59, has steered clear of the spotlight this week, declining interviews as the Redskins prepare for Sunday’s game at AT&T Stadium.
