Walcott: Ozil in the form of his life
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that there are no imminent transfers on the horizon, but admits that they will be looking to bring in players.
Ozil has been Arsenal’s standout player this season, as they head into 2016 top of the Premier League, and in the knockout stages of the Champions League. Wenger put that down in part to the fact that both his alternative No 10s, Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla, are injured.
Arsenal boss Wenger says Ozil is barely training and is going from game-to-game because he is so important to the Gunners’ title challenge.
“Mesut, I gave him a one-week holiday during the global break”, Wenger said.
“I am already busy and I said already one month ago we are a bit short to deal with all the competitions we face, especially in midfield”.
Cech, who broke the record for clean sheets in Monday’s win at Bournemouth was yet again singled out for special praise from his manager on an afternoon where flair players like Mesut Ozil were largely on the periphery. “They can all play, but at the moment, because there is so much at stake, it is very hard to get the young players to start, but they have the quality”.
Arsenal attacker Theo Walcott believes team-mate Mesut Ozil is playing the best football of his career.
“Overall, when you look at our continuity, 2015 was a positive year because we won the FA Cup, improved our results in the Premier League at the start of the year, continued with that and today we are in a strong position”.
Recognition must be given to Petr Cech for his incredible work, also Kosciensly, Bellerin, Walcott, Ramsey and Giroud for their fantastic work in properly the Gunners to the top but none of them is as good as Ozil.
“He has told me to just keep making runs, he just spots it”, Walcott said. QPR’s Charlie Austin was among the men the club actively courted to no avail with his B#15million price-tag way beyond what they would have been prepared to pay, but with goals having been at a premium to date, they need to do something to either increase firepower, or at least provide better service for Mitrovic. He just slows things down when he is playing.
“We don’t want to look ahead of ourselves but we have a history of ending the season well”, he added.
