Miss Universe host names the wrong victor
The big announcement ended with an awkward apology from host Steve Harvey after he mistakenly named Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez, the victor of the 2015 Miss Universe.
Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, the contestant from the Philippines, had won the Miss Universe 2015 crown after beating 80 beauties across the world.
Tension dominated the Planet Hollywood Resort Sunday after host Steve Harvey announced the wrong victor in the recently-concluded coronation of Miss Universe 2015. The actual victor was Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.
The source went on to refute claims that Harvey’s mistake was a publicity stunt to rake in viewers for the pageant. “I’m so sorry to say that”.
Meanwhile, in an interview the morning after the debacle, former Miss Universe pageant owner Donald Trump has called for the crown to be shared instead.
After what could probably be the most unconventional Ms. Universe coronation ever, a new controversy seems to be brewing: Ms. Germany alleges that none of this year’s candidates voted for Ms. Philippines.
Harvey said it was “an honest mistake” resulting from misreading a card. Meanwhile, Miss Colombia, 21-year-old Ariadna Gutierrez, left a message for fans in a web video, suggesting that she’s ready to move on from the embarrassing blunder.
Miss Colombia passed on the crown and later said, “Everything happens for a reason”.
Hopefully Miss Australia’s testimony will at least put to rest the theory that Steve Harvey had been slipped a fake cue card declaring Miss Philippines as the victor when it really was supposed to be Miss Colombia.
“Very sad what happened last night at the Miss Universe Pageant”, Trump wrote in the post. We want to hear from you.
