Manning replaces Osweiler, leads Broncos to AFC’s top seed

The Denver Broncos host the San Diego Chargers in one of the National Football League games on Sunday, start time at 4:25 PM ET at Sports Authority Field, Denver, Colorado.

He watched as Osweiler opened the game with a 72-yard touchdown pass to Demaryius Thomas on the second play of the game, and offered words of encouragement to the young quarterback after Osweiler threw two first-half interceptions, one of which deflected off a receiver’s hands. He was a suitable fill in for Manning, and the Broncos are just a win away from the division title and a first round bye.

Despite the idea we should all cheer on the Bolts, who do play very well in Denver, Denver clinching the #1 seed assures the Patriots will not have to play their two toughest opponents in the playoffs (Denver and Pittsburgh).

Coach Gary Kubiak said, “He (Manning) just needs to get back in the groove with the action with the team”. He had two passes thrown his way but did not have a catch in his final game.

Osweiler is 4-2 as the starter, including Monday’s win over Cincinnati, which clinched a playoff berth. I believe in Peyton, 100 percent.

Fitzpatrick, who had thrown just one interception in the Jets’ winning streak, was picked off by Leodis McKelvin in the end zone early in the fourth quarter with NY driving.

Manning told CBS after the game that Kubiak asked him at hafltime if he could play if the Broncos needed him in the second half. “He’s worked really hard to stay there for us and it couldn’t be a bigger day to be there for us”.

Manning led the Broncos to 10 quick points and a 17-12 lead on a 1-yard TD by Anderson and a field goal. The Chiefs are headed to Houston for a wild-card game next weekend after Denver won the AFC West with its win over San Diego.

The Chargers (4-12) wrapped up what might have been their final season representing San Diego as ownership tries to move the team to L.A. Denver committed four first-half turnovers, including three by Osweiler on a pair of interceptions and a fumble after a sack.

“It wasn’t like he was stinking it up out there”, Rivers said.

Manning will be back in uniform after missing the last six games because of a torn plantar fascia in his left foot. It gained more than half of its 210 yards after Manning entered.

The Broncos bounced back from five turnovers and an 80-yard touchdown toss from Philip Rivers to Tyrell Williams in the fourth quarter to beat San Diego 27-20.

“We didn’t want them to lay down, but we wanted them to lay down a little faster than that”, Aqib Talib said with a chuckle. Of course, this means that they might see a dip in their jersey sales.

Whether or not Manning is publicly exonerated regarding the HGH allegations will go a long way toward how he’s remembered at the end of his career – whether he gets the Roger Clemens treatment or not. I don’t know. None of us have.
