Obama returns from Hawaii saying he’s ‘fired up’ for 2016
President Barack Obama could issue executive orders aimed at reducing gun violence as early as Monday, provoking a battle with Republicans on Capitol Hill and on the presidential campaign trial.
The town hall will take place at Virginia’s George Mason University, and will be hosted by CNN’s Anderson Cooper, airing on the cable network.
It’s an issue he has had zero success on so far in his presidency, despite his repeated, emotional appeals for change.
Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott echoed its backers’ slogan in a Twitter comment: “Obama wants to impose more gun control“. It also falls a day before the fifth anniversary of the shooting of former Arizona Rep. Gabby Giffords (D) at a constituent meeting outside a supermarket in Tucson.
Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton has called for more aggressive executive actions on guns, and rival Bernie Sanders said he would support Obama’s expected move.

White House officials won’t confirm the timing. “We will consider options once we have information, but what seems apparent is none of these ideas would have prevented the recent atrocities”. The Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution guarantees the right to bear arms.
The administration is expected to reclassify some of those dealers using a mix of criteria, such as the number and frequency of guns sold, whether sellers profit off sales, whether they advertise, rent space or tables at gun shows and pay taxes.
Obama foreshadowed his actions in his weekly address.
