Marko Grujic confirms Liverpool deal
Sky Sports report an estimated £5.1m deal to sign the promising youngest, who will be immidetly loaned back to Red Star Belgrade until the end of the season.
After weeks of speculation, it’s now official: ‘ excellent’ Red Star Belgrade midfielder Marko Grujic will be Jurgen Klopp’s first signing for Liverpool.
Writing on his Facebook page, the Serbian worldwide intimated the move will be completed on Monday, but the ECHO understands an announcement is not due for another 24 hours.
“On 4th January I will become a Liverpool player”.
The Serbian-U21 global also attracted interest from Inter, CSKA Moscow and Zenit St Petersburg, with the latter clubs offering €10million – more than Liverpool’s accepted bid.
He will undergo all his physical examinations on Monday but no confirmation is expected until Tuesday at the earliest, after which the youngster will rejoin Red Star on loan until the end of the season.
“Liverpool will pay the money immediately, and the player will stay in Red Star until 01/07/2016”.
Grujic came up through the ranks at Red Star’s youth academy and made his first-team debut at the age of 17 in May 2013.

As his cash-strapped Serbian club sold Aleksandar Kovacevic and Vukan Savicevic this summer, Grujic has become a regular starter, playing 21 matches and scoring five goals in the season so far.
