Samsung shows teaser for universal remote with Tizen
At CES 2016, Samsung will showcase the future of TV and demonstrate how Samsung’s Smart TVs are at the center of the expanding IoT ecosystem. But while after-market multi-device controllers exist, Samsung plans to solve the problem straight out of the box with its new smart TV remotes.
Ridgefield Park: Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., unveiled a new Smart TV user experience which includes an enhanced Smart Hub user interface and new Samsung Smart Control remote. The new Smart Hub interface streamlines the user experience, making it faster and easier for consumers to access desired content and entertainment. The refreshed Smart Hub interface will allow consumers to customise the interface according to their preference of favourite content and entertainment selections on the home screen. The Smart Control remote will immediately recognize set-top-boxes, OTT boxes, Blu-ray players, game consoles as well as other connected devices.
This could mean that the Smart Control may be able to control other connected devices from lights to thermostats. With Samsung’s new Smart Control remote, however, that story might finally have a happy ending.
Using the Tizen platform, the new Smart Control remote provides quicker access to entertainment thanks to its automatic source recognition.
