Blast hits Afghan capital Kabul near contractor’s compound
Another bomb blast jolted the capital city of Afghanistan, Kabul on Monday, TheNewsTribe.com learnt from worldwide media.
So far, no-one has claimed responsibility for the consulate attack.
Bomb blast was occurred near Kabul airport.
The bomber was spotted by police as his auto approached the checkpoint, prompting him to detonate his explosives, the spokesman said. The standoff in the northern Balkh province began Sunday night when the attackers tried to storm the consulate and then retreated into the adjacent building. “There is no immediate information on casualties”, Interior Ministry spokesperson Najib Danish was quoted as saying by news agency AFP.
It believes the target was a convoy of foreign forces but the claim has not been confirmed by police.
“At least two Afghan security forces were killed in the attack”, Farhad said, adding that since the building is close to a residential area, “we are careful to avoid civilian casualties”.
The attacks have coincided with renewed efforts to restart stalled peace talks with the Taliban. The attack came hours after the Indian Consulate was attacked by Taliban militants in Afghan city of Mazhar-i-Sharif.
Afghanistan and Pakistan are set to hold a first round of dialogue between Afghanistan, Pakistan, the USA and China on January 11 to lay out a comprehensive roadmap for peace.
