Blackhawks Trade Jeremy Morin, Acquire Richard Panik
Morin has been dealt three times in the previous year and a bit, having been traded from the Blackhawks to the Blue Jackets in exchange for Tim Erixon last Fall before returning to Chicago in the Brandon Saad deal in the summer.
The Chicago Blackhawks and Toronto Marlies pulled off a minor-league trade Sunday night that has Central New York ties on both sides. Morin had nine goals and 13 assists in 28 games with the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL this season, and had eight goals and eight assists in 54 career games with the Hawks over five seasons.
Coming to Chicago is Panik, another 24-year-old forward.
Both Panik and Morin have a small-but promising-amount of National Hockey League experience, with 10 goals and 22 points in 82 games for Morin and 19 goals and 39 points in 119 games for Panik. He has one year remaining on his contract at $800,000, after which he will become a restricted free agent. The other part worth mentioning about his contract is that the Leafs can keep him in the AHL without any cap hit, which is a bonus.
Both of them have spent this season in the AHL.
If you want to find some differences between the two players, you have to dig deeper. Domenic Galamini (@MimicoHero) helped everyone do that with this nifty graphic comparing the two players.
