Suns expect Eric Bledsoe to be ready for camp in fall

Bledsoe underwent surgery to fix a torn left meniscus and will miss the remainder of the 2015-16 season, the team announced on Tuesday per Marc J. Spears of Yahoo!

Coach Jeff Hornacek had speculated before Monday’s game against Cleveland that Bledsoe would be sidelined about six weeks. Phoenix lost at home 111-104 to a Philadelphia team that entered the game with a 1-30 record and winless on the road this season.

In 352 games with the Los Angeles Clippers and Suns, Bledsoe has averaged 11.6 points, 4.3 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game.

Wildcats fans around the nation have been showing up to NBA games in Arizona gear to cheer on their former basketball players, but it’s not been a big as it was for when T.J. McConnell came home. Smith has never been given an opportunity to showcase his skills, moving around to nine different teams in five seasons, but if Smith’s first game with the 76ers is any indication, he could be a huge fantasy pickup. I am as sentimental as the next guy, but Kobe wouldn’t get my vote.

The Suns have lost four straight to drop to 12-20. They added Earl Watson and Nate Bjorkgren from the D-League while firing assistant coaches Mike Longabardi and Jerry Sichting. Their 3rd and 4th top point scorers are both averaging just 10 points per game. They can be shut down if they are covered by someone larger than them, which can mean the team will have days where they need other people to step up and score points.

The Phoenix Suns pay a visit to the San Antonio Spurs tonight at the AT&T Center. Kawhi Leonard led the team in scoring with 17 points but with Tim Duncan rested for the game, coach Popovic inserted Boban Marjanovic who got the crowd excited with 17 points on a flawless seven for seven shooting. McDonough brought in a third point guard, Isaiah Thomas, before last season and the glut of playmakers failed to work as hoped. He also leads the Sixers in minutes played and has scored in double figures in 26 of the 29 games he’s played this season.

After the defeat to the lowly Philadelphia 76ers, Hornacek described the defeat as “a low point”. It was unfortunate news for a team to lose their best player, but it’s something they were sure they could recover from.

“We’re just flat-out losing games and something’s got to change real quick”, he said.
