Rebels Dominate Oklahoma State in Sugar Bowl
Oklahoma State cornerback Kevin Peterson said this week he welcomed the challenge of covering Ole Miss wideout Laquon Treadwell, but Peterson nor anyone else wearing orange could slow him down.
Northwestern (10-3) sputtered offensively and was unable to keep up with the stronger, faster Vols defensively in falling short on a bid to finish with a school-record 11 victories.

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Ole Miss is the clear favorite in this game, as the Rebels are getting odds of -9.5 points against Oklahoma State. Without him, Oklahoma State is a clear underdog, and the game might hinge on Rudolph’s availability and health.
The game started off slowly, with Oklahoma State opening the scoring via a Ben Grogan field goal after Chad Kelly was intercepted on the game’s opening possession.
There’s not much to speak on about the Cowboys on defense.
Stanford quarterback Kevin Hogan turned in an admirable performance as well, passing for 223 yards and three touchdowns and rushing for another score.
His season-total of 4,042 passing yards is also third-best in SEC history behind Tim Couch (4,275 in 1998) and Manziel (4,114 in 2013). Click to WATCH the live stream of the Sugar Bowl now!
Offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil caught a backward pass and ran 2 yards for a touchdown to give the Rebels a 34-6 halftime lead. Three of those went to Treadwell, which also tied a Sugar Bowl record set by former Florida Gators wideout Ike Hilliard. The running game was stagnant again, finding life only behind quarterback J.W. Walsh, and primary quarterback Mason Rudolph averaged a mediocre 5.8 yards per pass attempt.
The Ole Miss Rebels erased last season’s New Years loss with a drubbing of the Oklahoma State Cowboys in the Sugar Bowl.
In their first appearance in the Sugar Bowl in 46 years, the Rebels left it all on the field, claiming their first 10-win season since the 2003 campaign.
Ole Miss isn’t going to have it easy.
The receiver-cornerback matchup between Laquon Treadwell and Kevin Peterson should be great, but Tunsil and Ogbah are two National Football League players battling it out in a collegiate setting.
In the rout over the Cowboys, Kelly threw for 302 yards and four touchdowns while completing 21 of his 33 passes.
With the exception of his first interception of 2016, which ended the Rebels’ first drive of the game, Kelly was largely in control for the Rebels.
Kelly probably didn’t enough credit for a season in which he threw for over 4,000 yards and added 500 yards on the ground. The latter, a 10-yarder that came two plays after he completed a 45-yard pass, broke Shay Hodge’s single-season record for career receiving yards. He’s caught a pass in every game that he’s played for the Rebels. Walsh was stuffed on a 3rd and 1 that led to a field goal instead of a touchdown, and plays to the edge seemed to always get swallowed up until the game was out of hand.
NEW ORLEANS (AP) Mississippi learned last season it’s a huge honor and lots of fun to play in one of the major bowl games.
Now, players and coaches say they’re ready for a do-over. “We’ve got to be physically tough; we’ve got to work hard in the weight room”.
Ole Miss was the best team in the country for two months last season before falling off in November.
