Gadgets get smarter, friendlier at CES show
With the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) growing bigger with each passing year, the CES 2016 – scheduled to kick off in Las Vegas this week – is expected to be the biggest CES till date, sprawling across a total exhibit space of 2.5 million square feet.
CES is one of those events where vehicle companies are always present. The incredible aspect of this year’s CES is the fact that not just product inventories have gone up, there are other changes too. We’ll still be covering CES beyond this primer, so here’s hoping for some big and interesting reveals in the coming days, regardless of what those reveals may be.
Volkswagen may unveil its very first electric auto.
Additionally, Ford is rumored to have teamed up with Google to make autonomous cars.
A record 10 automakers will be showing at CES along with at least 115 automotive tech companies, according to the Consumer Technology Association, which organizes the show.CES will also boast a big section devoted to virtual reality, as product makers jump into the trend ahead of the expected releases in 2016 of headsets from Oculus, Sony, and Valve.
Also, TV tech is taking the front stage as well, with more 4K TVs than ever before.
And while the Consumer Electronics Show doesn’t officially start until Wednesday, early arrivals have already landed at McCarran airport from all over the world. Apple and Google have been working on technology that connects more things in our house together, and we are likely to see that connectivity grow this year. Vendor E Fun will also revamp some of the tablets it announced at last year’s event, now offering up the Nextbook Ares 11A with 2GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage. Dubbed “LG Signature”, these will span different product categories – but a TV is definitely expected (alongside a selection of home appliances).
Automotive safety supplier Autoliv will be making the trip to the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) for the first time reflecting the growth and interest in safety systems in vehicles from both manufacturers and consumers. Here we’ve chosen the five biggest trends to keep an eye on at CES this week. Pre-orders are about to begin, so it would make sense for the company to provide information on how much the device will cost at the upcoming CES event.
Fitness tracking is well defined by now, and expect to see many products on this front, and the same is true for smartwatches. So with that said, virtual reality will likely be a key feature of CES 2016, with devices like Sony’s PlayStation VR one of the likely gadgets to get an announcement. Whether you’re interested in the immersive world of VR or the blend of real and digital elements that augmented reality offers, there will be plenty of booths to visit this year, with 40 exhibitors expected for virtual reality technology alone.
