Bill Clinton kicks off tour for wife’s presidential campaign
Appearing at a rally in Nashua, the ex-president wanted to make one thing very clear: He’s not an angry man.
Clinton praised the Black Lives Matter movement and extended his support to DREAMers, children who were brought to the United States by undocumented immigrants. But he started his speech on Monday slowly, seeming nearly tired in a chaotic primary year.
Her husband did not mention Trump during his 30-minute speech in Nashua, but warned that key gains in environmental and health care policy would be reversed if the country elects a Republican president.
Aides said more than 1 million donors made more than 2.5 million contributions to Sanders’ campaign, surpassing President Obama’s previous record for individual contributions.
No surprise, the early reviews from the Republicans were harsh.
“It’s such bunk, it’s such foolishness”, said Karen Lindberg, a retired school principal from Tampa, Florida, who came to the event from MA with her son, where they were visiting family. “This whole thing is the biggest fairy tale I’ve ever seen”. I think it just means he’s casting for straws.
Republicans “have to decide where they want to take the country, they have to choose a nominee”, he told reporters. “Certainly, if they play the woman’s card with respect to me, that will be fair game”. “We are trying to win a primary”.
You may have missed them when they aired, but we’ve got it all covered for you below.
Of course, it will be more than interesting to watch how important Bill Clinton’s role in Hillary’s campaign will be and how much of an impact he will be able to make. Bernie Sanders, who represents neighboring Vermont. That’s all you can do.
So, and I thought today, his best moments are what he can say about Hillary Clinton that she doesn’t say about herself and others don’t do for her. He adds that personal touch, talks about her in such a human way, it sort of breaks that veneer. Then-Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.), who in January 2008 had just defeated Hillary Clinton in the Iowa caucuses and looked poised for a victory in New Hampshire, where Bill Clinton was speaking before voters at Dartmouth College.
From Iowa to New Hampshire – on the air, on the bus and on the stump – candidates vying to become America’s next president roared out of the holidays in full force with less than a month to go before voting begins. You know why? It’s cold.
As expected, with Bill being in the foreground and national spotlight again, his scandal in the Oval Office will gain national attention again.
Trump is also campaigning in New England.
But the audience of 720 people did not seem to mind. Because-whom would you rather read about, Hillary or Bill?
Could we see more public appearances in 2016? “And I kind of like it, to be honest”. It was old news when she ran for the U.S. Senate in NY and won.
“Obviously, they’ve been together for 45 years”.
By the time I ran Al Gore’s campaign in 2000, Clinton’s ability to motivate voters was still very impressive. “I’m not mad at anybody”.
Afterward, he spent an hour greeting the noontime crowd at the Puritan Backroom restaurant in Manchester. “His money-raising powers are off the chart”, said Matt Bennett, an aide in President Clinton’s White House who worked on both his presidential campaigns.
