‘Daredevil’ Season 2 Confirms Netflix Premiere for March
Expect to be struck down a bout of superheroitis over the course of the last weekend in March.
This kind of gamesmanship played out several months ago when Marvel Studios and Warner Bros. both claimed May 6, 2016 as the release date for Captain America: Civil War and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, respectively. Initially, we predicted Daredevil Season 2 would be released on Netflix in the middle of April 2016. If you recognize that date, its because it is the same day that Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is going to hit theaters in the United States. DC/Warner Bros chose to move their release date back by 5 weeks.
After a successful first season of “Daredevil”, fans are already excited to see what is in store for the second season of the series. So any attempts to make it a battle royale won’t really connect, especially since the national campaign for Batman V Superman will be everywhere.
Netflix will reportedly give comic book fans who can only do one thing per weekend one heck of a conundrum. While it’s possible that it could cannibalize some box office numbers for Batman v Superman, the fact that it will be for home viewing AND released all at once it’ll be available for binge watching at any point after the 25th. Putting them out on the same day is more like two friends messing with one another than anything else. The character, portrayed by Elodie Yung, was seen sitting on a couch while conversing with someone.
Meanwhile, EW also released the first photos of Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle a.k.a. The Punisher.
What do you think about Marvel and Netflix’s decision to pit Daredevil against Batman v. Superman?
At this time, it isn’t known what kind of relationship The Punisher will have with Daredevil or just how big of a role the character will have in the show’s second season.
