Bucks G OJ Mayo ejected after going after referee
“It was a poor decision on my end to definitely disrespect the game”, Mayo said.
The Bucks next return to the Bradley Center to face the San Antonio Spurs on Monday night.
A Milwaukee Bucks veteran guard will have a lighter wallet after what he did following his ejection on Saturday. Henson finished with 15 points off the bench.
Mayo needed to be escorted from the court by coaches and security. Andrew Wiggins added 19 points on 7-for-17 shooting.
The Wolves shot just 39 percent, and their 16 turnovers led to 22 points for the Bucks. Wolves rookie center Karl-Anthony Towns had 10 rebounds but scored just eight points on 4 for 17 shooting. The Bucks went 10 for 17 from the field in the second quarter to trim Minnesota’s lead to three, then gained a lead in the third quarter that they wouldn’t relinquish on their way to a 95-85 victory.
Mayo picked up a technical foul from Pat Fraher after arguing for a foul call on a drive to the basket. When he didn’t get a foul called after getting hit, he ran up to referee Eli Roe, yelled at him for the no-call, which caused him to get two quick technical fouls for running his mouth. Assistant coach Eric Hughes yanked Mayo back by the jersey.
Earlier this season, the volatile Mayo had a run-in with Kings center DeMarcus Cousins in the hallway after a game.
They proved so again on Saturday, for the fourth time this season already during a 95-85 loss to Milwaukee at Target Center.
The Bucks played on for their sixth consecutive game without head coach Jason Kidd, who joined Golden State’s Steve Kerr on the list of injured coaches when he underwent hip surgery last month. The Wolves will look to get back on track when they travel to Philadelphia to take on the 3-32 76ers on Monday night.
Bucks: Milwaukee shot 8 for 16 from 3-point range…. He is likely looking at a suspension for his actions, which could open up some minutes for Jerryd Bayless and Rashad Vaughn. He went 0 for 3.
