Bill Clinton Stumps for Hillary; Is He an Asset or a Liability?

While he at times struggled with message discipline during Hillary Clinton’s 2008 campaign, the former president is widely seen by her staff and allies as a major asset, her “not-so-secret weapon”, as she described him last month.
At a rally in Nashua, New Hampshire, the former president spoke about Clinton’s background and highlighted her personal success in his first solo appearance of the 2016 presidential race.
The former president also touted Hillary’s work with former House Minority Whip Tom Delay (R-Texas) as an example of her ability to work with those with whom she disagrees. Heading into the 2016 primary, Hillary Clinton is fending off a challenge from Sen.
“She could have written her ticket to go anywhere she wanted…all she was really interested in was providing legal services to poor people”, he added, according to CBS News.
“They have to choose a nominee and we have a primary to win”, he said when asked about Trump and the broader Republican field. “And I will do more for women than Hillary Clinton will”. “Everything she touched, she made better”. Attacking Republican tax cutting, Bill Clinton told the crowd how “I was just a country boy from Arkansas, and I came from a place where people still thought two and two was four”.
The candidate has been made to respond, and Clinton has arguably fielded challengers on the subject with poise.
“Every presidential election, people run and, believe it or not-this is kind of scary this year-but believe it or not, most everybody actually tries to do what they say they’re going to do when they’re running”.
While Bill Clinton was keen to keep the focus on Hillary Clinton’s key campaign platforms, the passing time hasn’t shielded him from the ghosts that haunted his own presidency.

He also dismissed the notion, held by some Trump supporters, that the business mogul might abandon his more outlandish plans once elected. Clinton cited a story in the New York Daily News, in which a local Muslim shop clerk thwarted several armed robbers.
In a Facebook post, Prudhomme-O’Brien justified her behavior during the event by claiming that the anger towards her over her outburst is misdirected.
