Brits can bag a Surface Book pre-order right now
Then prepare to be excited by the news that Microsoft’s Surface Book is coming to the United Kingdom – and sooner than you might think.
Microsoft indeed invented a new device category in 2012, when it launched the first Surface, a tablet that can double as a laptop thanks to a detachable keyboard, and now more manufacturers around the world are jumping on the bandwagon with their own devices.
This news comes fresh off the announcement that the Surface Book will be available to buy in Hong kong and China from January 15th.

However, Microsoft has yet to confirm when any pre-orders might be fulfilled.
The Microsoft Surface Book will cost from £1299 here in the United Kingdom, which bags you the most basic Intel Core i5 model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage space, plus a 13.5-inch PixelSense display and bundled Surface Pen. At the top end you get 512GB of storage, a Core i7 chip, 16GB of RAM, and a separate graphics card in the base (keyboard) for $2,699. The 3000×2000-pixel resolution is an unusual one, but Windows 10 has much better scaling than previous versions.
The biggest talking point about the Surface Book is undoubtedly the fancy hinge at the back, but then there’s plenty of power, a great display and support for the Surface Pen too.
Data transfer is handled by two USB 3.0 ports, but there is no sign of the new Type-C variation.
