Hope has reportedly called the post office daily with an update on his recovery, grateful for Cartwright.
Cartwright noticed his mail piling up in the mailbox and drove up to his house to check on him.
Instead of driving away, Cartwright pulled up his private driveway and to his front door which, to her alarm, she found open.
According to WGNTV, 66-year-old Tommy Hope broke several bones in his fall, which left him stuck on the floor of his home for 10 days. Hearing her, Hope called out for help. He couldn’t get to his phone to call 911.
“Hope Hull Post Master Sherry Hughes told NBC that Hope had survived primarily by “[scooting] on his back to his front door to catch rain water”. He also maneuvered into his kitchen and used a stick to get ice, concentrated juices and frozen blackberries from his freezer. Once he leaves the hospital he will be in a rehabilitation for several weeks, writes FOX 12. “I was just at the right place at the right time”. “I knew then that she has definitely earned her title as a hero, even though she will tell you she was just doing her job”.
