PM walks during national anthem, Russian official nudges him back
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared his country’s staunch support of Syrian sovereignty and an end to the civil war in the country during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow Thursday.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a two-day visit to Moscow, has announced a large-scale development program for the country’s armed forces, which could be worth $150 billion.
15th India-Russia annual summit meeting was held in India in the year of 2014, and President of Russia Vladimir Putin visited India in 2014 to participate in the meeting. “The two sides identified the air defence missile systems, radars and automated control systems as areas of partnership under the “Make in India”, as well as offset policies of the Indian Ministry of Defence”, said a statement issued by Reliance Defence.
Ahead of the trip to Moscow, Modi said he aimed to “deepen the cooperation between India and Russian Federation in the economic, energy and security spheres” and called Russian Federation “one of India’s most valued friends in the world”.
Mr. Modi started walking following a gesture by Russian reputable when the navy band was playing’s India’s National anthem at the Vnukova II airport.
“These are matters of grave national sensitivities and we believe particularly that when the prime minister overseas represents the whole nation, these sensitivities must always be respected”, party spokesperson and former law minister Ashwani Kumar said at the Congress briefing.

Modi also offered his condolences to Putin over a terrorist attack against a Russian A-321 passenger airliner in the Sinai and the downing of a Su-24 warplane over Syria saying the Indian people were mourning together with Russia.
Modi and Putin inked documents simplifying the approval of business and tourist visas, while the PM urged Russian businesses to more actively invest in India.
Thirdly, he said both sides were moving forward on the India-Eurasian Economic Union Free Trade Agreement.
“India and Russian Federation have a long history of cultural relations”. The pacts included the joint manufacture of 226 military helicopters and the construction of 12 atomic plants in India.
Russian Federation and India have shared close ties since India gained its independence in 1947, when Moscow was a key ally and the main arms supplier to New Delhi.
In the nuclear energy sector, India is expected to offer a site in Andhra Pradesh to set up units five and six of Kudankulam nuclear power plant.
