Plane slides off taxiway at Spokane airport; no injuries
Spokesman Todd Woodard says the slide happened at about 6 a.m. Tuesday. In Boise, Delta and Alaska airlines had already been redirected or canceled some departing flights originally bound for Spokane.
Spokane International Airport is temporarily closed Tuesday morning after a United Airlines flight slid off the runway.
There have been no reports of injuries to those on board.
“Airport continues to work with the airline to reposition the aircraft back on the hard surface”, the airport tweeted at 10:10 a.m.
“The plane was on the taxiway when it seems like it may have hit some icy conditions that caused the nose wheels to slip…”
“We’ve made arrangements to fly them out of Spokane this afternoon”, May said. Airport staff are shuttling passengers back to the terminal.
The airport was closed to make sure adequate braking conditions are established, the airport said on Twitter.
This is a developing story.
