Powerball Jackpot Rises to $400 Million, Drawing On Wednesday
That means Wednesday’s pot will be $400 million, officials of the multistate lottery said early Sunday on their website.
Though no one hit the jackpot for Saturday’s drawing, more than 46,000 players in IN won prizes. But be warned: According to the Associated Press, the odds of winning are 1 in 292.2 million.
Powerball drawings are held at 10:59 p.m. Eastern on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The amounts could increase as ticket sales heat up before the drawing.
Stephanie Marquis, spokesperson for the Wisconsin Lottery, said $721,390 in Powerball tickets were sold from Sunday to Monday afternoon.
A string of drawings without a jackpot victor have grown the estimated Powerball® jackpot to its highest level since February 2015. The odds of winning this prize are 1 in 913,129.
The biggest Powerball payout was a $590.5 million prize in 2013.
The largest ever Powerball jackpot victor in Kansas was Donald Damon of Great Bend, who won $96 million in November 2009.
The winning ticket matched four white balls and the Powerball. The game can be played in 44 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands.
Both Illinois and Missouri are part of the multistate lottery game. A “Power Play” option that multiplies non-jackpot prizes by up to five times may be added to any Powerball play for only $1.
