Klopp not content with place in League Cup final
Klopp was angry with Liverpool’s display in the 2-0 loss against West Ham and has demanded a reaction from his players as they look to reach the League Cup final.
Stoke, in the League Cup semi-finals for the first time since winning the competition in 1972, will be boosted by the news that Geoff Cameron will be available after appealing his red card received against West Brom on saturday. Attempts to fix Daniel Sturridge for the remainder of the campaign, by giving the striker a training programme usually designed for pre-season, have been interrupted by minor injury setbacks, while lapses in concentration continue to undermine Klopp’s quest for consistency.
“I will pick him (Sturridge) when he is ready, said Klopp”.
Meyer, who made his Germany debut previous year, has three assists and two goals in 16 Bundesliga appearances this season. It would be easy for me to say, “come on, let’s try, we have problems, we don’t score enough goals, bring him and let’s see what happens”, but that’s where we have to be patient.
Their 5-1 demolition of the Saints had commentators purring, however since then Liverpool have had a checkered run of form including Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to West Ham.
Grujic will be Jurgen Klopp’s first signing since taking over from Brendan Rodgers back in November.
“We know about the quality of Stoke of course, it is the team I know most about because I know most of the players”.
“It is rare to play in any semi-final against a team who can not play football, so we know it will be hard”. Under Mark Hughes, Stoke have become more focused on attacking football, although they have scored only 21 league goals themselves, and Klopp is an admirer of the turnaround his opposite number has achieved.
Speaking to reporters on Monday afternoon to preview his side’s short trip down the M6, Klopp refused to confirm whether Simon Mignolet or Adam Bogdan would start in goal for his side.
“We can’t be too disappointed though, because looking at things in perspective those lads produced two superb performances in a matter of days against Manchester United and Everton and picked up six points”, he said, according to Stoke City’s official website. It is always a ball in the air.
“But we can not rush more, it’s time we need”. Clear in our words.
“Our target is to win it. It will be tough because Mark Hughes has done a brilliant job”.
“Yeah, at times we needed a bit more of a physical presence, but then you forsake a bit of technical ability”.
