National Basteball Association League Pass price tiers: $200, $120, $7
As part of the settlement, the NHL would be offering single team packages for a discount of “at least 20%” on the full league price. The immediacy of a sporting event compared to a movie likely accounts for that jump – you can watch a movie anytime, but most people only want to watch games live. The new single team and single game options are also not available internationally, and can only be enjoyed viewers in the United States.
The league plans to offer pay-per-view games at $6.99 apiece or $120 for the entire season (82 games). We’ve known from hearing directly from our fans and doing consumer research that our fans wanted the ability to buy individual games. But if there are certain matchups you’re really looking forward to, it could be worth the occasional one-off purchase and will ultimately cost a fraction of going all in on League Pass – or opening a tab at your local sports bar.
The decision to offer individual games can be seen as the NBA’s realization that casual fans probably find the $199 subscription price of League Pass far too costly. Only out-of-market games that are not nationally televised will be available for purchase. Fans will be able to watch the game on television if they have a carrier that gets National Basteball Association League Pass – DirecTV, Dish, AT&T, Comcast, Verizon, Time Warner and Cox, among them – or on broadband for computers, tablets and mobile devices.
However, all that technology and fans can still miss out on out of market games.
