Bills have had plenty of recent success vs. Jets at betting window
And that gave Ryan pause for reflection on Wednesday with the Bills (7-8) preparing to close the season hosting his former team, the New York Jets (10-5).
Well, how’s that for an absolutely juicy story line?
The Bills running game isn’t ideal right now with LeSean McCoy injured, so expect the ball to be in Taylor’s hands more often – whether he’s throwing it or running with it. NY is rather stingy against fantasy QBs in relation to the rest of the league, and despite losing their first meeting, they held him to just 170 total yards, one TD and 11.52 FDPs. As Belichick would say, we’ll see how it goes.
Ryan Fitzpatrick (14) has been a difference-maker for the New York Jets this season. But if the Jets drop Sunday’s matchup in Buffalo and the Steelers beat (9-6) the Browns (3-12), Pittsburgh will reclaim the spot in the postseason. “I look at it as, I’ve got to be myself and who I am as a person”, he said.
Most people might not remember Fitzpatrick’s ending with Buffalo. The Bills have looked sloppy down the stretch and will likely be without their leading rusher. Instead, they’ll miss out for the 16th straight year. The Jets might want to take care of business themselves. The Bills signed Ryan in the off-season to a five-year contract.
The Bills are not a playoff team at 7 and 8, and despite all the hype you will hear this week about Rex Ryan having a shot to derail his former team’s playoff run next Sunday at the Ralph, it won’t change the fact that Ryan’s Buffalo express has been a hit-and-miss bust.
On Monday, Ryan praised the Jets, not adding any extra fuel – but, it’s early in the week, of course.
Rex Ryan had expectations as big as every Bills fan for this season, if not bigger. He has done an outstanding job as offensive coordinator for the Jets, turning around an offense that was one of the worst in football for the past three seasons.
“When I’m like hey, ‘We’re gonna be in the playoffs, ‘” Ryan said. “Myself and my teammates, we’re just focusing on the game”. “There really is no pressure”. Y’know, I get it. That’s just me. There’s no pressure on us.
We know how that turned out. He has thrown for 1,525 yards and 13 touchdowns with one interception.
NY owns a five-game winning streak after knocking off New England in overtime last week 26-20.
“We won’t sit down by a cozy fire and roast marshmallows and talk about it”, Fitzpatrick said.
So has Brandon Marshall, who set the franchise’s season record with 101 catches – and counting.
The situation is not lost on the Jets’ players, either.
“I just think, when I said, ‘Hey, we’re going to be in the playoffs.’ I just honestly 100-percent believed that”. “So, I think the belief’s always been there just because we see the way that everybody works week in and week out and we see the talent level on this team”. Eric Decker will also need to continue his fine play for the team to clinch a playoff berth.
