Allen Plans To Transfer To Houston
Allen played two years at Texas A&M and was considered the top pocket passing quarterback in the nation during his recruitment.
Mark Berman of FOX 26 and Joseph Duarte of the Houston Chronicle reported the transfer first. In that span, he threw for 3,532 yards, 33 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.
Allen, from Scottsdale Desert Mountain High School, played the last two seasons at Texas A&M.
Allen came to Texas A&M as a five-star prospect but like former Aggies starter Kenny Hill, opted not to stick with the program. He got off to a very fast start, leading the Aggies to 5-0.
Allen will be required to sit out a season due to transfer rules, but given the fact that Houston star signal-caller Greg Ward Jr. still has a year of eligibility left, the Cougars should be in a good situation.
Allen won the starting job out of camp but was benched in favor of freshman Kyler Murray after throwing three interceptions, all of which were returned for touchdowns, in a loss to Alabama in October.
Allen also considered the Buckeyes during this latest round of recruiting, visiting the team while they were in Arizona for the Fiesta Bowl.
