John Stamos Says Producers Wanted the Olsen Twins’ Sister for Fuller House
“It turns out the studio had floated the idea around, but John said that Elizabeth Olsen – yes, the twins” IRL sister – gave a hard pass on the opportunity.
Uncle Jesse also revealed Fuller House producers reached out to Avengers: Age of Ultron’s Elizabeth Olsen, of being the most talented Olsen fame, about being the new Michelle. “So I had a knee-jerk reaction and said, ‘Bull[expletive], I did ask them.’ And they got upset, so I did call and talked to Mary-Kate”. “I didn’t do it, I think [Full House creator] Jeff Franklin did”. “I said, ‘Call [Elizabeth Olsen]”.
Many members of the Olsen family were sought out for the Fuller House part.
He continued, “We talked to her agent and her agent was like, ‘Come on, she’s not going to do that, ‘ but we did call her agent”.
“I don’t think this has been talked about”, Stamos told Andy Cohen on his SiriusXM talk show Radio Andy this week.
“I was talking to Lori [Loughlin] about this, and I was like ‘How could they not do this?’ It made a lot for them, their family, their sister, ‘” he shared.
Elaborating a bit on that thought, Stamos continues, “They hadn’t acted; they don’t consider themselves actresses”.
The revival series will follow eldest Tanner sibling DJ (Candace Cameron Bure) as she is reunited with her sister Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin) and best friend Kimmy (Andrea Barber) in the wake of her husband’s death.
Michelle may not be visually present in the reboot, but that doesn’t mean she will be entirely absent.
Earlier in the day, Stamos explained what happened with the Olsen twins during an interview with Howard Stern on Sirius XM. Fuller House is now moving forward over at Netflix and is expected to hit the streaming service on February 26.
