Powell Declares For The NFL Draft
Ohio State junior safety Vonn Bell announced in a press release on Tuesday that he’s turning pro. This is getting insane, y’all.
It was not a smooth transition for Bell from high school to college and it took until the Orange Bowl before Bell could earn a start for the Buckeyes.
Joining him are receiver Michael Thomas, running back Ezekiel Elliott, quarterback Cardale Jones, defensive back Eli Apple, defensive back Tyvis Powell, linebacker Darron Lee, wide receiver Jalin Marshall and defensive lineman Joey Bosa.
A two-year starter, Bell had 65 tackles and two interceptions as a junior this season. Apple was a major part of a sensational Ohio State pass defense that ranked in the top 20 in the country, allowing an average of just 184.5 passing yards per game.
Thomas, the nephew of former National Football League star Keyshawn Johnson, capped off his Ohio State career by catching seven passes for 72 yards and a touchdown against Notre Dame and had a season total of 56 catches for 781 yards and nine touchdowns.
Thomas is now slated as either the first or second receiver to be drafted in 2016, and has been compared to Demaryius Thomas of the Denver Broncos in terms of playing style and potential ability. “This was a very hard decision for me because I genuinely love Ohio State/Urban Meyer and everything has to offer”.
Bell was named an All-American in 2014 after he had 91 tackles and six interceptions.
This year’s underclass entry deadline is January 18.
