Utah Governor, Lawmakers Criticize The President’s Actions on Gun Control
“The universal background check existed in California, and guess what, they still had a mass shooting”, Battista said.
His executive actions, without Congress’ approval, widen background checks on potential gun buyers, the BBC reported.
Shelby called the moves the “first step” in stripping Second Amendment rights, saying the president effectively told law-abiding Americans “we’re going to take your guns away from you”.
“For every family who never thought that their loved ones would be taken by a bullet from a gun…every time…I think about those kids it gets me mad”, Obama said, adding, “By the way, it happens on the streets of Chicago everyday”.
Of course, the president’s tears had fans and detractors.
Fincher said none of Obama’s orders would have prevented terrorist attacks from happening, nor would they have stopped criminals from getting firearms.
Some people were happy to point out another recent politician with a reputation for crying, John Boehner.
The president wants more mental health funding, more ATF agents and more gun safety technology. Congress has not considered another gun control bill since.
“Once again, President Obama has chosen to engage in political rhetoric, instead of offering meaningful solutions to our nation’s pressing problems”, the gun rights group said in a statement.
Barack Obama fought back tears today as he announced new laws to tackle America’s gun violence. Background checks will also be expanded “to cover violent criminals who try to buy some of the most risky firearms by hiding behind trusts and corporations”.
But under Washington state law, all gun sellers must conduct background checks, with very few exceptions. “As a licensed dealer and responsible gun owner we are interested in keeping firearms out of the hands of people who should not have them”, says Brad Rupert, general manager of Midwest Gun Exchange.
The White House said the Federal Bureau of Investigation will hire more than 230 examiners and other staff to help process background checks 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
“So all of us need to demand that Congress be fearless enough to stand up to the gun lobby’s lies”.
ND Senator John Hoeven said this is a case of the President doing as he pleases, calling the real issue here not gun rights, but mental health and terrorism.
