Donny Osmond to undergo vocal-cord surgery
Singer Donny Osmond is heading to the operating room. He is back singing his heart out now.
“Doctors examining… [his] recent hoarseness have discovered a hemorrhagic polyp (or bleeding lesion) on his right vocal cord which will necessitate a microsurgical removal of the lesion”, read a statement Wednesday on Osmond’s official website.
Harvard Medical School’s Dr. Steven M. Zeitel will perform the surgery. Donny Osmond’s representatives said, though, the singer’s operation should be done in time for him to reunite on stage with sister and co-star Marie Osmond at their home showroom inside the Flamingo following a scheduled hiatus in October.
“It was so much fun getting to choose songs that have meant so much to me in my life”, he told People, the first to report his vocal cord surgery, in a previous interview about recording the album.
After the procedure, he wasn’t able to speak for three weeks (doctor’s orders!) but thankfully, he made a speedy and smooth recovery.
“Please know, Marie and I thoroughly loved coming to Aurora and playing at the Paramount a year ago”. “You have truly saved me this past few months”.
The procedure that Osmond will undergo and that Smith experienced is called suspension microlaryngoscopy surgery, and it is specifically designed for vocal cord hemorrhages.
“Now my most treasured possession”, he revealed.
