NHL names remaining 40 All-Stars for 3-on-3 tournament
“The numbers for the on-ice versions of the All-Star jerseys also will have the same reflective material as the crest”.
Roster limitations – six forwards, three defensemen and two goalies for each division – led to Crosby’s exclusion. Each All-Star team will have at least one player from every team in its division.
A 3-on-3 tournament between the four divisions will replace the traditional All-Star Game and take place on January 31 at Bridgestone Arena.
The Pacific Division team will play the Central Division in one semifinal, and the Atlantic Division will play the Metropolitan in the other. Live television coverage of the League’s midseason showcase during the 2016 Honda NHL All-Star Skills Competition and 2016 Honda NHL All-Star Game will be broadcast by NBCSN in the USA and Sportsnet and TVA Sports in Canada.
Tarasenko led the Blues with a career-high 37 goals and 73 points last season. Duchene, who has 18 goals, is also in the top 10 among league scorers. Winnipeg defencemen Dustin Byfuglien was named to the Central Division squad. He will, however, have the opportunity to cheer on Pittsburgh teammates Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang.
John Tavares of the New York Islanders, Claude Giroux of the Philadelphia Flyers and Brandon Saad of the Columbus Blue Jackets are the other Metropolitan forwards.
Tarasenko, who is tied for second in the league in goals with 23 and is fifth with 41 points, was named to the Central Division roster on Wednesday.
In total, 40 players were selected by the NHL, with Panthers forward Jaromir Jagr, Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane, Captials forward Alex Ovechkin and Coyotes forward John Scott chosen as fan-elected captains in the 2016 NHL All-Star Fan Vote.
