Kim Jong Un Shown Allegedly Signing Bomb Test Authorization

It would mark the fourth time North Korea has allegedly conducted a nuclear test, but the first time it has tested a hydrogen bomb – even more risky and destructive than the atomic bomb, which the country claimed it tested several times over the past decade.

Last month, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un suggested Pyongyang had already developed a hydrogen bomb, though the claim was questioned by global experts.

“North Korea’s continued violations of its worldwide obligations pose a grave threat to global peace and security, and particularly to the stability of the region”.

He said: ” It underlines the very real threat that North Korea represents to regional and global security.

In August previous year, North Korea declared a “state of war” after relations with its southern neighbour plunged to an all-time low.

One Western diplomat said that if the latest North Korean nuclear test was confirmed, council members would seek to expand existing United Nations sanctions against Pyongyang.

The news came after a 5.1 magnitude quake was detected near a known North Korea testing site early Wednesday.

South Korean President Park Geun-hye immediately convened an emergency security meeting after the test.

Carter spoke over phone with his South Korean counterpart Han Min-koo to discuss potential alliance responses to North Korea carryingout the hydrogen bomb test.

The UN Security Council strongly condemns North Korea’s nuclear test and is pledging to pursue new sanctions.

According to a statement, North Korea asserted that it would not abandon its nuclear weapons program as long as the USA maintained what it called “its stance of aggression”.

Hydrogen or thermonuclear bombs can be thousands of times more powerful than atomic bombs.

The H-bomb test, proclaimed as a major increase in military might by Pyongyang, has been condemned across the world.
