Coachella Valley Music Festival Announces 2016 Lineup
Guns N’ Roses founding members Slash and Duff McKagan are set to reunite with Axl Rose as the band headlines this year’s Coachella festival in California.
Although lead singer Axl Rose continues to record and tour, guitarist Slash hasn’t performed with Rose since announcing he quit the band in 1996.
They appeared to have turned over a new leaf today, announcing they will be headlining Coachella in 2016, but news broke at the same time that Rose is already cancelling appearances.
Interesting that there’s no mention of Matt Sorum, who took over drum duties from Adler while Slash and McKagan were still in the band. The group released three albums between 2005 and 2010 and disbanded in 2011 after a farewell concert at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
Guns N” Roses had massive success in the late “80s and early “90s with hits such as “Welcome to the Jungle”, “Paradise City”, “Sweet Child O” Mine” and “November Rain”.
It seems their $3 million per show price reported by Billboard may have been met. Not bad for a few hours work.
Other performers at this year’s Coachella include Ellie Goulding, Sufjan Stevens, Jack Ü, Ice Cube, A$AP Rocky, CHVRCHES, Sia, Major Lazer, Flume, Courtney Barnett and Lord Huron, among many others.
Guns N’ Roses will reportedly launch a North American summer tour following Coachella that may include up to 25 stadiums.
LCD Soundsystem is scheduled to perform April 15 and 22; Guns N’ Roses is scheduled to perform April 16 and 23; and Calvin Harris is scheduled to perform April 17 and 24.
