“I think it steps on your second amendment a lot and some of it may be good, as far as the mental health and all, I gotta go along with that”.

Still, Udall added that he supports “the rights of law-abiding New Mexicans who want to use guns for hunting, self-protection or recreation”.

He did do it through an executive order, an approach that’s often unpopular with the party that doesn’t control the White House. That’s the topic at hand for President Obama. “There are now no requirements from the ATF other than it is against the law to sell to somebody you know, or have reason to believe is federally prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm”.
