Obama fights tears in announcing new gun violence measures
“Every single year more than 30,000 Americans have their lives cut short by guns”, said President Obama in a press conference Tuesday.
Wiping away tears, Obama recalled the Sandy Hook primary school shooting in 2012 where 20 children and six adults were killed.

A White House fact sheet said it could be as few as one or two guns.

The White House said it is issuing a “presidential memorandum” to the departments of Defence, Justice and Homeland Security to increase research into reducing accidental discharges of guns, unauthorized use of firearms and the tracing of lost or stolen guns.
During the conference the president outlined his plan, starting with comprehensive background checks, regulating those who sell guns, and making sure those with mental illness get help.
Robert Battista, owner of 707 Gun Shop and Shooting Range, said the Obama administration needs to enforce the gun laws that are already on the books.
According to the billionaire, the ISIS-inspired attacks in Paris and San Bernardino could have been stopped “if some of the people in those rooms had guns”.
Some may initially hold up this data as proof background checks and other forms of gun control don’t work, but as Obama noted in his speech, the existing system has large loopholes. The President wants background checks to be more thorough when someone buys a gun online or at gun shows.
Albert says anyone can bring suit arguing if an executive order is unconstitutional, but the Supreme Court doesn’t like striking down those cases because they believe it’s bad politics.
