BMX Rider Jed Mildon Pulls Off The First-ever Quadruple Backflip
It took more than 50 attempts between them, with each rider travelling at around 60km/h before flying 15 metres into the air. Mildon, who’s known as “The Warrior”, wrote his name into the record books after landing the jump at a goal built complex in Maryland, USA. Since then, he has since been engaged in a race with fellow Nitro Circus rider and friend, James Foster, to land a quadruple. Mildon did just that in 2011, when a video of him sticking the first-ever BMX triple backflip went viral, and it’s been all mad tricks and world firsts since. I can barely do a wheelie anymore without seriously risking my life. Kinda like a story that you want growing up as a child but you don’t know how it’s going to pan out.
The only other person to land a triple backflip was teammate and competitor, Foster. Foster’s triple flips are now a highlight of Nitro Circus Live shows around the world.
While Jed landed the flip on May 2, it has been kept a closely guarded secret until NBC aired the challenge over the weekend.
Mildon is still on U.S. soil but will travel back to New Zealand this week.
